Our commitment
to Inari

At Aanaar, everything we do is in cooperation with the land we live on. Our ancestors have lived and enjoyed the bounty of Inari for centuries. It is our responsibility to ensure that future generations can do so as well:

  • We aim to choose the most ecological products possible and constantly improve our waste management.
  • We protect and support local nature and cultures.
  • When it comes to equipment, we try to fix what is broken and think sustainably when making new purchases.
  • We have actively participated in Finnish Sami Parliament’s project Culturally Responsible Sámi Tourism and follow its guidelines.
  • We have been awarded the Green Key Eco Label for hotel-restaurants in 2021.

We want everyone to feel welcome and celebrated for who they are. At Aanaar, we are LGBTIQA+ friendly and have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind.


Our history in brief

Hotel and restaurant have a long history in Inari, dating back to 1937. Back then, everything was sourced from the wild – because there was nothing else.

In 2002 restaurant began to further develop the use of local ingredients and build flavorful dishes with rich backstories. 

We are proud to say that Aanaar have been recognized with several awards over the years.

In 2022 the hotel and restaurant became part of the Wilderness Hotels at Inari region. Restaurant Aanaar will continue it’s fine dining servings also after the ownership change. Restaurant is renovated in the end of the year 2022.

  • 2018 Ranked 8th among Finnish restaurants. White Guide Nordic.
