Welcome to Aanaar – a restaurant with its roots deep in the tundra of Inari. At Aanaar, we want to tell the story of the northern wilderness and our heritage through award-winning cuisine. Come taste Lapland’s seasons with a view to the rapids of River Juutua.
Locals through centuries were dependent on the nature around them when it comes to the food. We wanted to return to this local way of thinking and bring the bounty of Lapland directly to your plate.
Everything begins with our ‘local pantry’, the untouched Arctic wilderness that surrounds us. An appreciation for Lapland nature as well as our heritage is at the heart of what we do.
Our kitchen creates dishes unique to Lapland, using everything from lichen and the traditional Sami herbal plant Angelica, to reindeer and Lake Inari’s fish. When choosing our ingredients, we always favor organic alternatives and source them from local producers and pickers.
With our seasonal menus, we want to explore and experiment with what our surroundings have to offer, sustainability in mind.
